In a few words

A modern extraction and analysis platform in phytochemistry, serving the industries of Mayotte.

An integral part of the Rural Excellence Pole, the Research Pole run by PI²M works closely with many partners, with the support of the Departmental Council of Mayotte.

The laboratory focuses on supporting existing and emerging agricultural sectors, and on the search for new high-value substances in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical fields.

The laboratory

Extract, analyse, scale up

Hosted within the Rural Excellence Pole in Coconi, the phytochemistry laboratory is built around two main activities, sized to provide producers with a turnkey solution.

Extraction unitMaceration, decoction, hydrodistillation, high-temperature pressurised extraction without toxic solvents. Solar dryers and bench-top freeze dryer.

Analysis unitTwo chromatography systems for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of extracts: essential oils (ylang-ylang, vanilla, coconut…), profiles of medicinal and cosmetic extracts.
